“Web of Lies” by Vienna’s English Theatre

The opening scene shows a police press conference, where a mother is desperate because her 15-year-old daughter has gone missing. The story develops about a girl who dreams of becoming a singer, but her mother wants her to become a doctor. When the girl does some demo shooting at a studio, a man who pretends to work for a record label puts something in her drink that makes her fall unconscious. She wakes up on a bench near a canal, and later the crook blackmails her with photos which he took while she was unconscious. It turns out that he used a fake internet account and a different name for the scam. After a turbulent mix of scenes with music, dancing and a serious police investigation there is a happy ending. A play both entertaining but also with a serious background, excellently performed and obviously perfectly suited for the teenage audience!
